Conference Overview
The goals of stroke rehabilitation are to promote the highest level of functioning possible, minimize the limitations of activities of daily living, and enhance the level of independence to achieve the best possible quality of life. The keynote presentations at Mary Free Bed’s 2023 Stroke Conference will provide rehabilitation specialists valuable information on self-awareness deficits, assessments, and strategies for the adult neurologic population and neurology assessment and intervention for adult-onset apraxia. Other presentations will include executive function skills following CVA and addressing intimacy and relationships following a stroke to improve quality of life. Bridging the gap between therapy and orthotics regarding AFO selection as well as research updates on capacity versus performance will be included. Additionally, utilizing music therapy for stroke rehabilitation will also be presented.

Outcomes
The rehabilitation specialists who participate in the 2023 Mary Free Bed Stroke Conference will be able to describe assessment and management strategies for spatial awareness deficits and adult-on set apraxia. The attendees will be able to describe current research on capacity versus performance and proper AFO selection for stroke patients. They will be able to describe changes in executive function skills following a stroke and management approaches. Additionally, they will be able to identify ways of utilizing music therapy for stroke rehabilitation. They will also be able describe ways to navigate intimacy and relationships following stroke.
